Okay, I have no words for last night but I try to find some!

When I woke up yesterday morning, I would never have thought of anything like this!!!! I know it sounds crazy but I kind of swore myself to never never never see this band live cause I wanted them to be untouchable for me!! (Glad, I changed my mind that fast lol)
So I got a message yesterday with a hint that they would play tonight! I stayed with my computer the whole afternoon and didn´t even got up from bed. I listened to Live 105 the whole time, hoping they would announce something. And then finally I heard the moderator saying that he has to make an announcement! Stupid as my computer is, it broke down exactly in the second when he made the announcement!!!
I restarted my pc as quickly as possible and went back online to the Live 105 website! And what did I see there? "Green Day live in the DNA Lounge. Get tickets NOW!"
I freaked out, klicked on the link and almost burst into tears when I noticed that the link didn´t work for me for some reason. I immediately called Paulina, telling her to get on that website and she ordered two tickets for us! Seriously, I never had a more exciting phone call lol We both freaked out and almost cried over that! This was an unbelievable moment for the both of us! I kept shaking non-stop for minutes if not even hours!

At around 4.30 I left the house to get the bus over the bride to San Francisco! I arrived at the venue at 6pm. At that time the line wasn´t very long. I would guess about 20 people which was fine with me! It was freezing cold there, though and it kind of remembered me on thuesday night when Paulina an I stood outside of The Independent in the freezing cold and just listened to the show! I still couldn´t imagine that I was about to see Green Day live! For the first time EVER! I guess the shock over that was too big to realize it.
Paulina finally made it to the venue at about 7pm and we both just smiled at each other the whole time. After a while they split the line into two lines: one for wilol-call (people who have a ticket) and one for those who didn´t have a ticket. I couldn´t believe how many did not have one. We were the fourth and fifth people in line after they split it!!! That made us even more excited cause we knew we had a big chance to stand in the first row!
They split the line for a second time: one for people who got their ticket from the DNA website and one for those who got theirs from the Idiot Club! Luckily, they let us in first so we just ran inside to the stage and...there we were, in the first row!!!

The cold kind of took over me and I still had a hard time to realize what was happening right now!
The venue hold about 200 people and the stage was soo small that I could barely imagine that Green Day (the band who played in front of 65.000 people) would soon play on this stage!!!

I looked around the balcony, hoping to see Adrienne but I didn´t see here. But who I saw was Davey Havoc from AFI, one of my favorite bands!!! I could swear he noticed me when I looked up to him which I did like every two minutes! And I also noticed Bill Schneider.
He hang around the stage with some other roadies.
After a while, a guy came down with the setlist and put it right in front of us, next to mikes mic stand. Did I mentioned that I stood right in front of the mic stand?! haha I never thought I would ever be sooo close to them! The setlist was exactly the same as the one the played in The Independend. But we knew that they didn´t follow it so we hoped they would just play requested songs.
At around 10:15 the music stopped playing and everyone expected the show to begin now. I could swear, my heart stopped beating for a second but then another song started playing and everyone was like "Urgh". The same thing happened a few more times until FINALLY at around 10:40 the music stopped playing AND the lights went off!!! I screamed my heart out like everyone else around me and Tré was the first who came down the stage. Then Mike and then Billie! And Jason. Oh, and the other guitar player who´s name is Jeff if my memory serves me right. Billie introduced them all to us later.
He started by saying "Closer, closer, closer"... Surprise!

They started off with "21st century breakdown" and I could swear, Tré was kind of surprised when he saw me singing along to the whole song lol

Mike was right in front of me and so was Tré with the only difference that he was a bit further afar. But we had a lot of eye contact =
D
It was so much fun watching Tré playing. He made funny faces all the time or just joked around with the people on the balcony like Davey Havoc (and his possibly girlfriend with whom he later left the venue together. Can´t tell who exactly it was)
Adrienne was now on the balcony, too and every time I looked at Billie, I could see her, too in the corner of my eye. I´m sure she saw us when we noticed here cause I got like super excited when I first saw her up there and smiled all the time and she smiled back.

One thing I noticed about the song: The line "From Mexico to the Berlin wall" was not in the song anymore!

The next track was "Know your enemy". Most people knew the lyrics to the chorus and it was sooo much fun to hear this song live! I´ve never seen a show with happier fans then last night! I wonder why my cheeks didn´t even hurt cause I smiled throughout the whole show!

Btw: Billie said they would play the entire album tonight! There was one song, though that I couldn´t find on the setlist. They played one between "Little girl" and "Restless heart syndrom". "Little girl" was also new to me. I never heard of it before but it was a kickass song.

The next few songs were "Viva la gloria" (the only song with this name that they played), "Before the lobotomy" and "Christian´s inferneo". All amazing songs!!!

The next one was "All my love" which did NOT remind me of the song from "Heart like a hand grenade" at all! I´m sure this one is a different one and it will be on the album. One song that we missed was "Last night on earth". I don´t know if they changed the title to this one or if it won´t be on the album...but there was no song at this show with a title like this. "All my love" was beautiful though. It was just Billie singing this song and the other guys playing their instruments. It was beautiful to see Billie singing such a beautiful love song and I always looked at Adrienne to see her look : D
There was one moment when Billie went down on his knees, getting closer and closer to his fans.
Later in this show he did the same and his face was right in front of me...

At one point, Billie stepped on my hand (which wasn´t very nice and hurt me :P
) cause we all had our hands/arms on the stage and since they were so close to the crowd with no barrier between stage and crowd, it was kind of predictable that something like this would happen.
Billie noticed it, raised his leg and hold it right into my face, pretenting he would kick me .

Another great moment was when Billie got closer to Mike, holding his mouth to his ear as if he wanted to whisper something to him but then he kissed Mike on his cheek! And later he even kicked Mike in his leg which was unexpected to him as I noticed from his look  :D

Billie later pulled up a young boy on stage who seemed very happy cause he jumped up and down all the time. Billie gave him a hug and then just continued playing the song. After they finished the song, Billie asked the boy to do a stage dive what he did of course.
Billie did a stage dive later, too, still having his guitar around his neck. And then there was a security guard on the side of the stage and he spontanousely ran over the stage and jumped into the crowd. That was very unexpected and I´m glad he didn´t jump on me cause he was like four times bigger and heavier than most of the people in the crowd.
[/Part one]

Edit: Apparently it was one of Billies brothers (I imagine Dave) who did the stage dive!
And two of Billie´s sisters were there, too who I have seen on the balcony. Both of them took pictures every once in a while which makes it more clear for me now. Just wanted to add this so I won´t forget it.

Part Two:

I just saw that Andres posted the first part of my review in the GDA for what I´d like to thank him! And it truly is a blast, all these things that happened within such a short period of time after years of waiting. I feel very blessed that I can be a part of this and I´m sure so do you! Thank you to those of you who enjoyed reading my review and gave me feedback. It´s about time for part two so here you go:

Since I was one of the lucky people who were in the first row, I was able to look at the setlist which lay right in front of me on the floor, taped on the grey carpet that was rolled out before the band went on stage. The first thing we noticed was that it was the exact same one as the one they played at The Independent two nights ago! Therefore, the first part of the show (which was the part where they played their entire new album) was kind of predictable. The second piece of paper of the setlist included songs like "Scattered", "2000 light years away" and "Welcome to paradise". All songs we were eargerly looking forward to but it also killed our excitement about it a bit cause we knew what songs to expect! By the time the first set was finished, the setlist was torn and tattered, trodden from Billie Joe who stepped on it every time he stepped on the edge of the stage. As we should be taught later, they didn´t follow this setlist but play a whole set of requested and unexpected songs!

Looking at the setlist also helped to know which song they were just playing because Billie didn´t introduce every song with the title.
The second act of the album, titled "Charlatans and Saints", started with the song "East Jesus Nowhere", a fun midtempo song with a middle part that switched from guitars to Billie Joe whispering the words into the microphone and a song that made us all jump up and down. What I enjoyed about this show was that people just danced around even though they didn´t know the song. That´s not very common for shows that I´ve been to in my life, to be honest.
The next song was "Peacemaker" which kind of makes you want to swing your hips
Everyone seemed to enjoy this song and the rhythm was very contacious. As far as I remember, Billie played this one with a black guitar that was almost as big as he is lol It´s a very catchy song and I think it´s already one of my favorites althought it has a little bit of a Shakira-song (no offense ; ))

"Last of the American Girls" started off with Tré on the drums and its beginning part reminded me a little bit on "Whatsername". Another song I instantly felt in love with. Very catchy with a good vibe and a sing-along chorus although it kinda reminded me on a song that I still try to remember the title...

The next song was "Desperate". My head turned straight to Paulina when I recognized the song and we both reacted with a big fat smile since we already knew and loved this song. Everyone seemingly enjoyed this song and danced to it.

Starting off with a piano, "Little girl" (as it was named on the setlist) reminded us on "Misery" cause it had this style of it and this tune that makes you want to swing your...whatever you want to swing xD

"Restless heart syndrome" started with Jason Freese on the piano and Billie Joe singing. The song had something balladic but builds up more and more energy and goes faster as it comes closer to its end. One thing I can still see very clear in my eyes is the "Jesus of Suburbia" pose that Billie did during the song! Very expressive in some way.

The next song that followed was "Horseshoes and handgrenades", a song that wasn´t put on the setlist. This one is also the opener for the third and final act of the album with the same title and made the crowd move again. Already the third song that had a part in it where drums and vocals switch (I´m sure I´m missing a word here) and it also had a screamo part in it as far as I remember which, I´m sure, you´re gonna love!

"Static Age" followed. A song I remember clearly from the other secret show when I first heard this song. It has a very catchy tune which gives you a good feeling when you listen to it (well, at least me). I even could remember some of the words of the chorus from the first night! It became my favorite after I heared the whole album for the first time during the first secret show. And it still is somewhere on the top of my list.

"21 guns" started with a slow guitar tune (I think it was played by Jason White) and exploded into a fast sing-along song with heavier guitars. I liked this song because of its catchy chorus which I still could remember after the show. And it made me curious what this song is about because of its title and the words that were used in the chorus...(Now that the lyrics are released it makes it easier for me to remember those words ; ) Thanks for that).

After "American Eulogy", which I barely can remember, the band played the last song of the first part of their show: "See the light". The song started with a familiar tune, the one that I already knew from the released teaser of "21st century breakdown" and Billie Joe singing "Sing us the song of the century". Unfortunately, that´s all I can remember right know without listening to the audios.

Between two of those songs Billie took some time to introduce the band. He started by saying "We are Green Day from Rodeo" (a reference to the "Sheriff" sign he wore on his shirt tonight?) and then introduced every band member. First Mike, then Tré, then Jason White, Jason Freese and finally a guy named Jeff, the new guitar player who I could barely see throught the show cause he hid behind Mike and the piano. I didn´t even notice him until Billie introduced him.

In one of the new songs (it was one of the last ones), Mike sung two verses! I´m eargerly looking forward to hear this song on the final record since Mike doesn´t have a lot of singing parts in Green Day songs. I remember the crowd screaming over this and I didn´t know why they screamed cause I kept looking at Billie lol Luckily, I finally noticed him singing before he finished his vocal parts.

If anyone´s interested in what they looked like: Yes, Billie Joe has black hair again, Mike has brown hair again and Tré still looks the same
All of them looked very good this night and not a year older!

The band disappeared for a while after they finished their first set. The crowd kept screaming "Encore" and "Green Day, Green Day..." and it didn´t take very long until they returned to the stage!!!

The second part of the show started with "American Idiot" (and not "Welcome to paradise" as the setlist said and as I hoped cause there was no other song at the moment that I could relate to more than this one). As soon as they started playing, I felt like I had the whole crowd right in my back!!!
It became a bit aggressive and everyone just kept pushing to get closer to the stage! I guess, they also started a pit so everyone was pushed away from there. (My chest still hurts from being pressed against the stage).
Everything that happened from now on was nothing than a wild ride through a series of little dreams that just became true. A walk on the boulevard of broken dreams. Broken dreams that weren´t broken anymore
Well, not as broken as they used to be lol
My heart kept beating in the same rhythm as the song(s) and everyone sang along to every single word of the song. It kind of seemed that the concert just started and the first part was nothing than a warm-up!!
There was so much energy in this show that it was hard just to stand still. (But why am I telling you that?! ;P)

Spontaneous as Green Day are sometimes, Billie decided to play "Jesus of Suburbia" by saying "Fuck, we´re gonna play Jesus of Suburbia" since the setlist was torn and he couldn´t see what song would come next. Everyone freaked out and it was totally awesome to hear one of my favorite songs live. I could hardly breathe throughout the whole second part of the show cause I had no room to move and singing along to every song didn´t make it any better =) But I was ready to die anyway lol

The energy went up when "St. Jimmy" started to take the show over - literally. This song was followed by a little drum solo from Tré that we recognized as the intro of "Give me novacaine". This song was sooo not planned cause Jason White had trouble to remember the chords. That was another fun part of the show: Billie Joe had to show him how to play this song lol Great moment!

The next few songs were all requests (I believe) and made us all even more excited! I mean, when did they play "Burnout" the last time? Or "The Grouch"? Or "80" if they ever played this song live!!! This was overwhelmingly beautiful and a dream come true!
"Burnout" went straight into "Coming clean" and from there into "The Grouch". Latter was obviously a challenge for Billie! He couldn´t remember the lyrics and pulled up a lucky girl from the crowd who sang the words to this song. She was quite excited as we noticed from her jumping up and down and forgetting half of the words but she did a good job...sort of.

I don´t know what made them play the next song but it was simply awesome to hear "80" live while the woman who inspired Billie to this song sat right up there on the balcony, looking down at the crowd. I kept smiling at her during the song and I´m sure she was just as happy about hearing this song as the fans were.

The next song was "Stuck with me", followed by "Blood, Sex and booze" (what an entertainment!) and "She" (another favorite song of mine). "She" is always a pleasure live and I was beyond happy to hear this one live.

Billie took some more requests now and me and Paulina kept holding up our hands on which we had written our song request: "Worry rock" (Paulina) and "Sassafras roots" (me). I first saw Mike coming closer to me and trying to read what was written on my hand (I admit, the song title is longer than my hand is big which made it hard to read) but he seemed sceptical about it. Later Billie read the song title on my hand, thought about it for a few seconds but then shaked his head. My face went from
to !
But they obviously saw Paulinas hand and were okay with playing her request. Billie started singing "Worry rock" and it took us a few seconds until we recognized the song. I looked at Paulina and she looked like the happiest person on earth haha
I put my hand on hers and was delighted for her but still a bit disappointed that they didn´t accept my request : (
I remember her saying "If they played Worry rock now, my life would be complete" during the other secret show! I guess it is now.

A bunch of people behind us kept screaming "Basket case" as the next song request. They´ve probably never heard of GDC and the download section! I mean, seriously, put in "Bullet in a bible" and you can not only listen to it but also watch it live! I love this song live, it has sooo much energy but since the band was apparently in the mood to play all those songs that they haven´t played since AGES, I had hoped they would continue this wonderful set with more of those rare songs. Of course, it was still a pleasure to hear this song live and it still hasn´t lost any of its power and energy!!!

Billie requested another song from the audience and I took this as my final chance to have them play my song request! I gave up on "Sassafras roots" and instead got a piece of paper out of my bag and wrote "Going to pasalaqua" on it! Yes, I know they play it live very often but it´s one of my favorite songs and I always wanted to be a part of it when they played it live. I put the paper underneath Mikes mic stand and almost gave up when it flew away. Fans kept screaming different song titles while Billie talked to Tré and Mike about what they would play next. I got my paper back (thanks to the girl who gave it back to me) and hold it up to Mike. I´m not sure if he read it. Anyway, it seemed they have made a decision and Billie got his guitar to play some random notes. I recognized the song as "Going to pasalacqua" cause they always started this song with a little into. I totally flipped out, I tell you that lol I was beyond happy and on the verge of tears. Great song!
But the best part of it was still about to approach. (<- I hope that made sense; I wasn´t sure how to say it in english)
Billie asked Davey Havoc (man, I love this guy and his band!!!) to come down on stage and sing with him!!! I couldn´t believe that this was happening! Two of my favorite leadsingers singing one of my favorite songs!!! Someone should have recorded it, seriously! Epic moment in my life!

At some point someone requested a song (I think it was "Babs uvula who?"). Billie tried to remember the chords but then said something like "F is the hardest chord." People laughed their asses off when he said that, I swear! That was hilarious.

They played "King for a day" along with some cover songs like "Shout", "Stand by me", "Swanne", "Baby Face" and "California Here I Come" next.
There was an amazing part when all three Billie, Mike and Jason went down on the floor and lay there for minutes!! I could tell how uncomfortable this was for Mike cause he turned like 20 times until he find a position in which he stay until he got up again lol
Billie did some sing-along parts a la "Hey, hey, hey" and whatnot. He lay right in front of us with his eyes closed. I remember seeing his left hand just laying there on the ground and some fan taking her hand to grap his but then he pulled his hand away from her. That was kind of funny actually.
When he got up again, he came closer to us and were right in front of me and Paulina. I can just quote her now: "There was a point where Billie was practically standing on me. Billie's crotch was practically on my head. Note: I'm sure any teenie would take this opportunity to touch him, erm...there, but I did not. I have respect for the guy! " So right! haha

At about 12:50 they started their last song for tonight: "Minority"! Another favorite of mine. I dig the live version of it on "Bullet in a bible" and it was always my dream to hear this song life. We were jumping up and down during the chorus and it was a lot of fun to be entertained with this song! Jason Freese played the accordion for this song and Billie later played the harmonica as he always does during this song.
After the song, Tré came up on the front to shake some hands and then throw a whole bunch of drumsticks that had his name on it into the crowd. I was happy for Paulina when I saw that she got one.
The end of the show felt kind of abrupt, though! I was sooo into the songs and the show that it felt like it had just begun. But that was it!
I felt somewhat lost standing there between all those people and staring at an empty stage (a stage on which I just enjoyed 2 and a half hours of Green Day!!!!!) after they all had left, waving to the fans and then disappeared through the door...I stared at the stage for a few moments until I realized that it was over!!

Time for some random facts about the show:
- At some point of this show I was very lucky when one of Billie´s picks felt right in front of me!!! He lost it while he was playing.
- Billie took one of the water bottles and spilled all the water over the fans heads. What a refreshment!
- He also drank beer during the show very often and at one point he took his beer bottle and gave it to a guy in the crowd!
- Another "wet" moment was when he kept shaking his head during "St. Jimmy" (Billie played the guitar during this song by the way) and all his sweat "rained" down on us lol I´m not kidding about this. This is what you get when you are that close!
- During one of the songs, Billie was obviously bothered by something between his legs cause behind his guitar I could see him scratching his dick lol.
I turned to Paulina and laughed but obviously she didn´t know what was going on.
- During one song, Mike´s strap fell from his shoulder and he tried to put it back there by shaking his shoulder which was kind of funny to see. I felt like going up there and help him since no one else helped him but then he went back to the stairs where one of the roadies sat and he finally helped him putting the strap back on this shoulder
- Also Billies strap broke during one of the songs which he didn´t seem to noticed. A roadie came up to him to put the strap back to wherever it belonged to and you could see that Billie looked a bit surprised. Or maybe that was just me.

Paulina and me met this mother with her daughter while waiting in line before the show and together we hang around inside the venue for a while after the show. We´ve waited there, hoping the boys would come out again or whatever! I could see Adrienne sitting on the balcony for a while, trying to get a picture of her but it was too dark to see anything on the picture. Note: I only had my cell phone at this time cause my camera was still in Paulinas car.
The security throw out all the people after about 15 minutes. We decided to stay outside and wait for something to happen.

We were about 20 people waiting outside the venue.
We´ve met some people there and talked to them like this one girl who showed us pictures that she had of Billie Joe when he was five. She told us that her mom was one of the background singer of "Look for love" - lucky girl. She also had an article about this which she throw on the stage during the show. Billie picked up the paper and put it in his pocket until he put it somewhere else. Someone throw it away as we heard later.
But she should get her chance....

Then there was this mother with her daughter who we met earlier before the show. Paulina recognized her as two of the people who stood in front of her during the Warfield Show.
I also kept writing messages to Janine cause we missed each other before the show since her flight was delayed. I knew what she wore so I looked for a woman in a "The living end" jacket. She stood right next to me when I found her and then we talked for a while.
It took about two hours until the black van in which Green Day arrived before the show pulled over. My excitement went sky high!!!
I grapped my camera and put it on "video". The driver of the van turned off the car and we´ve waited another 10 minutes or so.
When he started the car again, we all knew what was going to happen now!!! The door opened and some securities came out! Together with Adrienne and Billie!!!
(I have this big fat smile on my face again as I write this! haha) Oh man! How surreal!
Billie shook our hands (
video here). I can´t even rememeber if I looked in his eyes when I shook his hand but I was uber-excited!
Adrienne went straight into the car. She seemed pretty tired but she was just as beautiful as always. I felt a bit stalkish but I took some
pictures of her sitting in the car. Everyone was very nice to Billie and so was he! I remember this girl (whose mother was one of the background singer of "Look for love") talking to him for like 5 minutes. She told him about the article she gave to him and then showed him the picture she had of him when he was 5! He even could remember her mom when she told him her name!!! This girl told him that she had a video of people singing "Happy Birthday" to him when he turned 7 and he was like "Oh, really?" They later changed e-mail adresses (or she gave her mail adress to him; I can´t remember). But that must have been the moment of her life!!!
I asked Billie for a
picture after they finished their conversation and he said "Sure".
I don´t know how she did it but Paulina started a conversation with Billie that lasted for like 3 minutes! They talked about the Pinole music scene as well as her band
(Mistery Dope - check it out! *wink*).

Billie gave some autograhs and took a few more
pictures with his fans until he went into the car after about 10 to 15 minutes...I still can´t believe that this happened. Talking to Billie was like talking to an old friend that you just met again after years. He was such a sweetheart! And although his wife seemed kind of annoyed by this, he took a lot of time for his fans!!!

I later heard that Mike left the venue with Brittney while we were busy talking to Billie! Smart guy!

We´ve waited another 30 minutes or something, hoping they other two guys would come out. (Of course, we didn´t know that Mike had already left).
The security guys made some jokes, pretented that they would come now and stuff like this. One guy seemed to enjoy his own little show. He came out the door and everyone got ready to take pictures and stuff cause we expected someone of GD. But all our faces were like this :/
when we noticed that it was just one of the workers there. He looked kind of disappointed that he didn´t get any applause so he said "We´re gonna do this again and I pretend to be one of them." He went back inside and then came back through the door with a big smilie on his face to animate us to scream and applaude. That was quite entertaining and killed some time! It was freezing outside so moments like this were kind of warming.

We saw another van coming after a while which stopped right in front of us at the front door. Same thing: the driver turned off the car, then turned it on again, we got excited but then the car moved back to the back door. We followed of course which was pretty funny cause everyone was like "He, I´m not following the car. I´m just taking a walk." lol
We were only about 15 people now and we shaped two lines to make room for whoever would come outside and get into the van!
Two security guard opened the door (my camera ready again) and a blond girl came out, followed by Tré!!! He stopped for a minute, took some
pictures with a few of his fans, gave about 3 autographs and then diappeared after like one or two minutes. He said something like "Make it quick"! I guess, he was pretty tired after this long show.
I was pretty sad and I think others were too but that´s life. At least I got this one great picture

The only thing that annoyed me were those two security guards that protected him the whole time as if he was the president or so. I made one step forward and this giant man behind me took my arm to pull me back. Asshole.
I mean, I can understand it but that was a bit too exaggerated. Or maybe I was just too sad about the fact that I didn´t get a chance to take a picture with him or to get an autograph =( Oh well.

It was about three in the morning when we went back to the car, a bit under shock but more than happy!!!
As I said in the very beginning of this whole recap: When I woke up this morning, I expected everything to happen. Even an earthquake. But not this!
I was shaking like crazy when we got the tickets, screaming and on the vedge of tears. That was probably the moment when I realized that I would see GD the most! I always imagined this moment when I would meet Green Day but it felt different. I didn´t freak out over this or anything. It was like meeting an old friend, as I said. Also my image of them changed a bit! I can´t describe it and I don´t really wanna try. I think I still haven´t realized it cause no single tear wanted to leave my eyes since that night! And I usally weep easily. When I look at the pictures from that night, it feels like someone else took them! Although I´m in one of those pictures!
One night and I´ve got to see the band that had such an impact on my life, I´ve got to shake Mike´s and Billie´s hand (and touched Billie like 10 times during the show =D), I´ve got a guitar pick which I will use from now on every time I play my guitar (I lose picks easily but I will protect this one like I would protect a baby xD), I´ve got to take a picture with Billie Joe Armstrong and I´ve got to take a picture of Tré!!! And this all within one night!
Can life get any better!?

I have to thank two people how made this possible for me: First Beth for doing what you do/did and then of course Paulina!!! Without you this probably would have been another show that I listened to from the outside hehe
You have no idea what that means to me and I´m so glad that we´ve met!!! (Or should I thank Fall Out Boy?! lol You know what I mean) We should have met earlier =( I´m leaving in 4 weeks, going nowhere, so I hope we will have a lot of fun together before I go back to my lovely country.

What else? Ah yeah: It was something unpredictable but in the end it was right! I had THE TIME OF MY LIFE! And I wouldn´t trade it with ANYTHING in this world!!! Thank you!

<3 Anja

More change comes

  • Mar. 9th, 2009 at 5:35 PM

I just changed my flight!

I was supposed to leave the country on March 14th, which is in five days. Well, I'm not gonna leave. Instead, I will stay  here for some traveling and will leave not earlier than May 11th. One day after my parents celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. I feel sad and bad that I won't be there but of course I wanna use every single day that is given  to me in the USA. I can stay exactly 60 days after graduating from a school here which I will do this Friday.

I'm using my hostmoms pc right now cause mine broke (again) and has like 400 viruses. Well, maybe not THAT many but that's what it feels like. Anyways, because of that I don't feel like writing right now and also it's not very inspirational. So I'm gonna go upstairs to my room now and try to do something that really helps me moving forward...

Later!

Change comes, change goes

  • Feb. 13th, 2009 at 11:37 PM

For some reason, something has changed! Since last weekend (Feb 7th) when we celebrated Mylene´s 19th Birthday, which was on Jan 29th, I felt something between the whole group that was different. The girls - including Mylene, Maya and Sue - were taking pictures all the time, having the funniest time of their life and enjoying each moment they were spending on the limousine we were riding...Ultimately, I was on none of these pictures!!! Instead of this, I took my own with Yoko. I´m glad she was there. Otherwise, I would have felt like a complete outsider cause no one was actually paying any attention to me. And then we had this little incident today after dinner. We were laughing about something I can´t remember and then, all of a sudden, Mylene dropped a can full of water. She blamed me for that because I was laughing so she looked at me while I was actually laughing. She got pretty pissed and said she won´t talk to me (anymore!?)
Fucking ridiculous!!! I´m ready to get my bags packed! Not just because of this but also because of something that made me REALLY FUCKING angry!!!

When we planned the birthday party, we spent a lot of time talking about money. I don´t know what kind of culture french people or even american people have but I find it just rude and insolently to ask the guests YOU as a birthday child invent to YOUR party to help or in fact just pay for the party! Mylene wanted 20 bucks from each person to pay for the limosine...I still can´t believe this! And then we had to pay for the dinner, of course. We went to the Berkeley Marina to a restaurant named "Hana Japan". The evening itself was a fucking waste of money and time since we had the limosine for three hours and all I was actually doing was just waiting for the other guys until they were finished taking all their big-fake-smile-pictures. So I paid 20 dollars for about 30 minutes in a limosine which we actually could have had for three hours!
Well, that´s not what made me angry, though. When we were discussing this I told everyone that I´m not sure if I will go because it´s quite a lot of money. Some people probably misunderstood me and assumed that I will NOT go. That was one thing that made me pissed because some suddenly said that I won´t go, although I never said that!
Last week then, I was told by Mylene and Sue that both Vicki and Maya were talking behind my back!!! Not positive stuff, that goes without saying, I guess! Vicki said something like "She can afford three t-shirts but not 20 dollars for your birthday party..." Fuck, who makes decisions about my money??? That actually made me so angry that I startet not only crying but also ripping things off the wall and getting ready to leave this place! I expected that from Maya since it´s obvious how fake she is but Vicki is obviously, too. The fact how differently she apparently treats me is just sick. She always has this big smile on her face, asks me how I am doing and so. And then this...
When she mentioned "3 tshirts", she was referring to the shirts I bought during our trip to Monterey, btw.

What else? Only for weeks are left now!!! I just cried again when I thought about this. It makes so fucking sick and I could cry again now. I for sure wasted half of my time sitting in this small dark room instead of going outside and explore the East Bay! Hate myself for that! Okay, half of the time it rained but that should not be a reason for me not to go outside and do what I fucking want to do. I made a list two days ago and I´ve been still writing on it. It´s a to-do-list which means I´m writing down all the stuff I want to do within the next four weeks before I leave! It´s getting longer and longer but I WILL do everything that is on this list! That was a promise to myself!
Otherwise, I would regret it and cry my soul out when I´m back "home" in Germany, sitting in my even smaller and darker room, thinking about the last six months here.
I imagined this scene a while ago and it already seemed so surreal to me that I am REALLY here in the East Bay. In Oakland, Baby!

I swore myself not to cry about this the last few weeks and instead just to enjoy the last weeks here and do as many things I can do. But it´s tough.

About 10 minutes later: I´m talking to Taeho right now on skype. He used to be - or still is - the boyfriend of Kaoris. And he also used to live in Marvins house near the Oakland zoo with Ahmad and Pablo. He´s doing fine and I actually miss him a little bit. He was one of the - let´s say - "normal" guys here. He´s from Korea by the way and I really liked talking to him. We had a lot of fun by the way we were in the same class (Level 6 with Dan as our teacher).

There´s another story I´d like to share: A few weeks ago a whole bunch of people from Argentina arrived at EF. They were about 30 people. A group who´s studying english in their country and they came with their teacher. A few of them are still here and 4 of them used to be in my class (I´m level 7 since the new term started in january) on thuesday. One of them eventually ended up moving down to level 6 because of an incident that happened on thuesday. We watched a movie (as often) in our class called "The secretary". This girl - I can´t even remember her name, all I remember is that she is 23 years old - well, she felt offended by this movie so that she run out of the class room after maybe 40 minutes of the movie. She bumped into the school director Andrew after that and told him about the movie we are watching and that it was kind of a pornocrafic movie. She was actually the only one who felt that way. But she complained so that our teacher Andrew got into a lot of trouble...It was about all or nothing. Fired or not fired!
We discussed the movie after the break and tried to figure out what made the girl leaving. Ultimately, our teacher got NOT fired but the consequence of this is that he´s not allowed to show any movies anymore. That pissed us all off pretty much...He´s kind of forced now to use the textbooks that at least we in level 7 dislike.

Schnitzel ftw!

  • Jan. 24th, 2009 at 11:13 PM

  • Jan. 24th, 2009 at 1:06 AM

Weekend-time - Boring time!?

  • Jan. 11th, 2009 at 9:20 PM

Well, another day passed!

And damnit...everything I just wrote got deleted >.<
Hope I can recall everything!

So yeah, ... I´m sure I already forgot something ... Vicki took me and Eda to a demonstration in San Francisco today. I can´t tell how many people attended cause it was quite impossible to count nor to evaluate...And I really have never seen so many arabic people at one big place (...well, probably in Dubai when I was there for vacation in ´05). Anyway, it was my very first demonstration even though we have a lot in my city in Germany. It was about the current situation in the middle east, particularly about Israel attacking Palestine. Different important people (well, dunno if they are important but at least they thing they are) from different organizations were given speeches about different issues. And I swear, never in my life - myslef excluded - have I seen people being soooo angry about something. You really could feel their passion and devotion (my new fav word!) about what they are doing!

They also had a 9 year old boy talking about his feelings and opinion about the situation via telephon...which was really interesting to hear even if it was hard to understand due to the connection.

After about one hour the march began! Hundert, maybe thousands of people startet walking along Market Street, beginning at Van Ness Ave.  right in front the Civic Center. The whole time people just yelled out what the organizer "told" them to say; including "Let Gaza live", "Stop killing children", "Long live Palestine" and so on... Police were closing Market Street on 4th Street so we turned right to walk the Mission Street back to the place where we startet. All in all it took about 1, maybe 1 1/2 hour...oh, and I got a free white ballon!!!

On that note: Peace and Justice for all! Cause: No Justice - No Peace! ;)

Spent the rest of the day hanging ´round my room. Kaori is leaving tomorrow so we´re gonna bring her to the airport...Hope I can come with them. According to Vicki we don´t have much space in the car...so she said someone might have to take the BART *suspend my opinion*

It was a pretty good evening. All of us - Mylene, Eda, Kaori, me and the new student Sue (she arrived 2 or 3 days ago) - were sitting in mine and Edas room, talking, viewing pictures and talking again...I wish her all the best! Heart you!

Another day in paradise...

  • Jan. 10th, 2009 at 10:21 PM

It´s been a while...!

  • Jan. 9th, 2009 at 10:13 PM

Well, where to start when so many things happened within the last two weeks?
I´m gonna start to tell you what I´ve done this week. It´s my last week of a three-week-vacation by the way so I was trying to do the best to make it to a memorable week. Without being self-pleasing, I must say that I pretty much succeeded. It startet boring, though with hanging out at home on monday and cooking at night for eight people.
I was planning to do on Thuesday what I eventually did on Wednesday: going to a place where I probably many people would like to go. Well, more later!

I went to SF with Mylene on thuesday to get her laptop fixed. I didn´t go with any goal or so but I finally ended up carrying four shopping bags in my hands. And I´m still happy about everything I´ve got! Some really nice shirts, a scarf which makes a pretty good accessoire, and ... okay, you don´t need to know the rest.

So, Wednesday was coming and... man, what a great day! The sun was finally shining again and I made it to BJ´s house. I´ve probably never seen a prettier neighborhood than this and I tell you: I´m gonna move there one day when/if  I get rich!!! Seeing his house and the neighborhood where he lives in was amazing. Though I wasn´t sure what his place was when I got there, I eventually have guessed which one it was. And it´s goddamn...nice! Lucky he and his family! Roaming around there was a nice experience although I sometimes felt like a stalker or something. Hope, no one has seen me there.

After one hour, I went back to Downtown Berkeley where I ended up in a bookstore. I´ve got my first Maximum Rocknroll as well as my first Cometbus! What a trove! I was just flicking through the pages but it was really unputdownable (what a strange word for a german). Anyways, I got another two issues today!

It´s Thursday, my fourth last day of my only vacation while I´m here in Oakland. One of these days that my day, again! I went to Ashby Ave, Berkeley to see the house where GD used to live in in their earlier days and where they also shot the video for "Longview". Since there was a car in front of it and some stuff on the veranda, I think someone´s living there and was even at home when I took all my pictures.

It´s actually kinda surreal for me: I visit all these places and I know for sure that my fav band - the band, that really changed me and my life - was right there. Right there, where I have been! And they eventually made it! They turned their passion to music into someting they can live from. And I´m still here, trying to figure out what to do with my fucking life.

I walked all the Telegraph up to stop by Moe´s bookstore. That guy who is actually - let´s say responsible - for what Telegraph is today! (thx, I must say) The current issue of Aaron´s magazine "Cometbus" (very smart title) is telling Telegraph´s story in some way. It´s more than just interesting. It actually inspires me to keep on writing my own stuff. And it makes me wish to have a different life on a different place - sometimes. There´s this community that includes Aaron, Ace Backwords (a guy someone told me about cause she met him) and so many other guys I don´t really know. Moe was one of them before he passed away in 1997. Ace - by the way - sells books and zines for 25 cents on the sidewalk at the corner of Telegraph and Haste. I once saw him there when my parents were here. I really would like to meet him and talk to him. He has some really well-written blogs on MySpace (he uses the UCBerkeley library computer, according to Zoé) and he has written a book about his life which is titled "Surving on the streets"...

I wanted to see him today but he wasn´t there!

I even got the Gilman book "The story so far" today. And I got it for free!!! How great is that, please!??!
The guy in Moe´s was really nice and I came there with the book to pay the advertised eight bucks. Some pages, though, were already fallen off so he just said: "That deserves a huge discount. You get it for free!" *whoo* It´s heavy, though. I have no fucking clue how to carry all my stuff back to my (home)country. And it´s coming closer...where is the time when I really need it!?

Afternoon was breaking windy and cool. I spent an hour in Rasputin´s. I´ve probably never mentioned this store but it´s worth to visit it. They don´t have many sides, actually only a few in the Bay Area. So when you ever come here and you love music or movies - definetly go there!

Go there and go to Moe´s!!! Latter has four floors with both used and new books. Same about Rasputin. And it´s pretty cheap.

I have soooo much other stuff to say but it´s getting late now. So the rest comes later. Storys ´bout my San Diego trip and my parents visit.

Peace out!

P.S. Just to make it clear: Yes, I DO love Berzerkeley! I even left my heart there!

Let me say: I left one half of my heart there while I left the other half in San Francisco :)

Graduation! Where have they all gone?!

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 10:33 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------
